Waste collection

Waste collection puts cardboard, waste paper, household waste and co. into your calendar as entries under “House”. The evening before, Hüsli reminds everyone what has to go out to the kerb the next morning.

Switch it on

1. Tap your profile picture top right and open Settings › Add-ons.
2. Switch on Waste collection.
3. Then tap Waste collection to set it up.

How it works

1. If Hüsli already knows your town (e.g. Winterthur), the collection days are in the calendar under “House” straight away.
2. If Hüsli doesn’t know it yet, tap Add a collection day.
3. Choose the type of waste, the weekday and every week, odd weeks or even weeks.
4. If your town offers a calendar link, paste it under Your town’s calendar link (iCal, optional).
5. Have a look in the Calendar: the collection days are now there.

Settings

• Collection zone: if your town has several areas, choose yours – otherwise you see All.
• One switch per type of waste: whatever you switch off doesn’t appear in the calendar. Green waste and household waste are off to begin with.
• Reminder the evening before: time (default 19:00) and a switch for the reminder.
• Add your own collection days: you can add your own days even for towns Hüsli knows.

Good to know

• Free, and only for families in Switzerland.
• The reminder comes as a notification to everyone in the family. Anyone who doesn’t want it switches off the House & waste topic under Settings › Notifications.
• In wall mode a note appears the evening before, e.g. “Put out cardboard”.
• If a collection says “expected”, Hüsli has worked it out from the usual rhythm – the town hasn’t confirmed it yet.
• Parents can set up waste collection.
