Mail to Hüsli
Forward emails from school, nursery or delivery services – events go into the calendar, parcels into the list.
Parents' evening, water supply interruption, shipping confirmation: forward emails like these to your personal Hüsli address. Hüsli reads them and turns them into an appointment with a reminder or a parcel. You decide which emails you send – one by one by hand, or automatically with a filter.
How it works
- Open Settings › Calendars & mail. Your personal Hüsli address is under Mail to Hüsli.
- Tap Copy and ideally save the address as a contact “Hüsli” in your mail app.
- Try it out: tap Send a test email and send the prepared email.
- Shortly afterwards, tap Check now. Hüsli shows what has arrived – the test is then in the calendar.
- From now on: in your mail app, tap “Forward” on an email and send it to your Hüsli address.
- For automatic forwarding, tap Guide & filters: there you'll find the parcel filter to copy and the instructions for Gmail, Outlook and iCloud.
Gmail: set up a filter
- Open Gmail on a computer (the phone app has no filters): gear icon › “See all settings” › “Forwarding and POP/IMAP” tab.
- Click “Add a forwarding address”, paste your Hüsli address and click “Next”.
- Google sends Hüsli a confirmation. In Hüsli, Confirm in Gmail appears under Settings › Calendars & mail – tap it (Check now helps if it isn't there yet).
- On Google's page, click “Confirm”.
- Leave “Disable forwarding” selected at the top – you only want to forward certain emails, and the filters do that.
- In the Gmail search box, click the slider icon and paste the parcel filter from Hüsli into “Has the words” (or a sender such as the school into “From”).
- Click “Create filter”, tick “Forward it to”, choose your Hüsli address and click “Create filter” again.
Outlook and iCloud
- Outlook.com or Hotmail in the browser: gear icon › “Mail” › “Rules” › “Add new rule”. In Outlook on a computer (Microsoft 365) it is called “Manage rules”.
- Condition: “From” (a sender) or “Subject includes”, e.g. shipment, parcel, delivery. Action: “Forward to” › your Hüsli address › Save.
- iCloud in the browser at icloud.com/mail: gear icon at the top of the mailbox list › “Rules” › “Add a Rule”.
- “If a message … is from” (or “Subject contains”) › “Then … Forward to” › your Hüsli address › “Done”.
Good to know
- Only your personal address works. It contains your code – emails to the general Hüsli address without a code are discarded unread.
- Who the entry is for: If the email comes through the filter of an account in your family, the appointment belongs to that person. With an invitation that has a calendar file, the invited people get it. Otherwise it is for the whole family.
- Hüsli creates the appointment or the parcel and then deletes the email; its text stays as a note in the appointment. If Hüsli finds no date, the email appears as a note on the day it arrived.
- Every filed email shows up for the parents under the bell, with a notification. Turn this off under Settings › Notifications with the topic Mail to Hüsli: every filed mail.
- Parents set up Mail to Hüsli, and it is part of Pro (free during the beta).
